Cavalry?
We've been trying it out for a bit and got some promising first results, but it's not a top priority right now. First we want to make sure that unarmed and melee combat on foot is polished, then we'll likely add ranged combat first. Keep in mind that in between these things, there's also a long list of other features that need to be taken care of, so mounted combat is likely not going to happen soon.

As an addition to Christoph's reply:
Being set at around the turn of the 14th century, horses were an integral part of civilian and military life. Since we're designing a game based on historical authenticity, we try to include the most (mechanically) interesting aspects, and horses are definitely one of them. Considering we've had a successful implementation of horse riding and physics in an earlier prototype, it's almost guaranteed they will see a prominent appearance in the game somewhere down the line.
Currently we're designing and building the game bottom-up - i.e. starting with the most basic features in mind and working our way up to more late game features throughout development. So as Christoph said, this will only be once we have the basics and lower-tier combat functionality implemented in a stable polished fashion.
